La Marca leather bags are hand-chiselled using a traditional technique. The hand tooling patterns are usually based on flowers. Because this process is done by hand (not by machine, stamped or laser cut) there may be small variations in the designs. The same goes for colour when bags have been hand-dyed and stitching where hand-stitched. Images on the website are from actual bags in stock so please peruse the site to view the detail and craftsmanship. See About Us for more info.

Store your handbag in the soft dust bag bag (which will be sent with your bag), not in plastic. The dust bag will keep your bag free from dust while allowing air to circulate.
La Marca bags are designed to be used – leather is a robust material.

Normal leather care is all that is required:

Avoid rough surfaces that may scratch the leather colour.
Make sure hands are clean of cosmetics before handling your bag.
If wet, stuff with paper and allow to dry at normal room temperature (do not put in dryer or bright sunlight).
If zipper becomes stiff, try running a lead pencil over the zip teeth or a very small (trace) of beeswax.
The bag leather does require special care treatments but if you decide to use beeswax, a leather conditioner or waterproofing spray, we recommend first using a small amount in an inconspicuous place (e.g inside or underneath) just to make sure it does not affect the colour. (We tend to use beeswax if wanting to condition or soften the leather.)
La Marca bags are designed to last for many years and may slowly gain signs of wear, e.g where it rubs against clothing. This will add a natural patina to the hand tooled leather, eventually giving it a lovely ‘aged’ leather look.

Yes! La Marca bags will go on for years – possibly handed on to the next generation. Some of the bags will soften over time (years) for that soft, pliable vintage look. Boho bags in particular will do this. From personal experience it may take a year or so for softening to begin to start due to the high quality, thick leather. And this is with everyday use! Some styles will not soften due to their internal structure and are deliberately designed to remain stiff, for example, the Florita clutch.
